Bella is looking for something fun to do and has decided to put together a virtual scavenger hunt and "visit" some interesting and off-the-beaten-path destinations.
Time to put on your travel geography cap and follow Bella around the globe. Can you guess where in the world Bella is?
Bella is in one of the most physically beautiful countries on the African continent, with steep volcanic mountains, grassy plains, and lush rain forests, as well as the source of the Nile, the world's longest river.
Notorious for the 1994 gruesome genocide, the so-called "land of a thousand hills," is now one of the safest destinations in Africa and is quickly increasing in travel popularity. The country's main attraction, the mountain gorillas, have miraculously survived—even thrived—despite a devastating civil war that brought poachers, settlers, and rebel soldiers into their rugged park refuge.
Even though this is one of Africa's smallest countries, it is heavily cultivated, with farms growing banana plants, sweet potatoes, and coffee.
Need a hint? The Volcanoes National Park, home to the rare mountain gorillas, reopened in July 1999, and travelers can once again visit these gentle giants made famous by Dian Fossey.
So where in the world is Bella?
Rwanda
Visiting Rwanda is one of the great wildlife adventures on the planet. The star attraction is the highly endangered mountain gorilla. An encounter with a silver-back gorilla can be a hair-raising experience and one you will never forget! The welcoming people, lush landscapes and other wildlife attractions make it an ideal addition to any African safari. Rwanda is mountainous, green and lush, and home to over 670 birds, a variety of primates and 100 orchid species – a paradise for bird watchers, conservationists and botanists alike. The majority of tourism is focused on a visit to the Parc National des Volcans in the north.
